He paused in his circling, tilting his head to the side as he placed his hands on his hips. ”Nothing I can’t handle, you know! The ol Codfsh found his flintlock…and things are still kinda wibbly by the Mayor’s house, but other than that, it’s fine.”

Peter turned upside-down, deciding to retort to her remark about his reflection. ”You know Henry wants to join up with the Lost Boys. I’m considerin’ lettin him. I suppose we could let you join too…since you saved us and all.” It was true, Peter had taken quite the liking to Henry. The boy had imagination and spunk. He couldn’t help but admire that.

Emma raised her eyebrows. “Me? I don’t think I could keep up with you boys. Besides, as sheriff, I should probably stay on the right side of trouble. Know what I’m saying?” She tipped her head to one side, studying the upside-down child. “Hmm…Henry as a Lost Boy. I dunno, Peter, think you can handle him? He has a pretty big imagination.”

The curse breaking was a wonderful thing. For years, ‘Peter Banning’ was forced to live with his rather cruel-natured father in their house on the shoreline. Peter preferred spending his time at the orphanage, where the nuns were. He fought almost daily with John, his ‘father’. Now all these things made sense. John wasn’t his father, but actually Captain James Hook, his eternal rival and mortal foe. And the orphans he spent his time with? They were his Lost Boys. The nuns were fairies. No wonder he felt so at home with them.

Now that magic was back, Peter was making up for lost time. He and the boys had already set up a hide out in the nearby woods of Storybrooke, hiding out with the dwarves and a few other beings who preferred trees to concrete streets. But now of course, Peter had to have a bit of fun. The sound of a flintlock going off rang out in the distance, followed by a triumphant crow.

Peter soared out over the tops of the buildings, wind rustling madly through his blond locks as he swooped down to the street below, blowing past the sheriff. He stopped for a moment, realizing whom he’d passed. That was Emma Swan, the woman who broke the curse, the hero. Peter turned around and floated over to her, beaming brightly. He made a small bow before floating around her.

“You know… you’re alright for a grown-up, Sheriff.” The boy had become well acquainted with her before the curse had broken. He’d been caught numerous times skipping school or being out past curfew.

She heard him before she saw him. “Oh, no.” There went every possibility of a quiet patrol.

Swoosh! Emma’s hair flew everywhere as a gust of wind hit her from the side, surprising her briefly before she remembered. “Right. Flying. He can do that now.” With a sigh, Emma attempted to tame her thick locks as Peter returned, all smiles, and spoke to her.

“Mmhmm, you’re only saying that because you can fly again,” she said in response, tugging a stray twig from her hair. “Spot anything troublesome while you were swooping around, besides your reflection in the river?”

Magic hadn’t been around for three days and already Emma was sick of the chaos. Nothing truly dangerous had happened yet, but she was sure it was just a matter of time, especially with all the supposed villians lurking about. She was pretty positive she hadn’t met everybody in town yet, either, so there was always the chance of running into something or someone with strange magic about them.

At the moment, though, she was walking through the town on a midday patrol, getting progressively more nervous and suspicious the longer the streets remained quiet. Any second, Emma knew the other shoe would drop and all hell would break loose. She shoved her hands into her pockets and turned in a slow circle, hoping against hope that the rest of her walk went by calmly.

All he’s been so far is vague and pushy. I don’t have an opinion of him yet; not a positive one, at least.

As for his looks…he looks shifty. I don’t tend to judge a book by it’s cover, but like I said, so far his insides aren’t sparkling.
